See Crop Health Before Stress Is Visible

Multispectral cameras detect plant stress weeks before it shows in RGB imagery — giving farmers and agronomists the data to act early, apply inputs precisely, and maximize yield per acre.

What Is NDVI and How Does Multispectral Imaging Work?

NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) quantifies vegetation health by comparing how plants reflect near-infrared (NIR) light vs. red visible light. Healthy vegetation strongly reflects NIR and absorbs red light — stressed or sparse vegetation shows the opposite pattern. The resulting NDVI value (-1 to +1) maps field variability into actionable data layers.

Near-Infrared (NIR)

Healthy plants strongly reflect NIR — captured by multispectral sensor bands 4 and 5. NIR reflectance is the foundation of NDVI calculation.

Red Edge Band

The transition zone between red absorption and NIR reflection. Red Edge is a leading indicator of vegetation stress — changes here appear before visible symptoms.

NDVI Map Output

Each pixel assigned an NDVI value (-1 to +1). Areas mapped from red (stressed/sparse) to green (healthy/vigorous). GPS-tagged for targeted intervention.

What Multispectral Drones Measure

Early Season Emergence

Identify gaps in crop stand — thin stands, poor emergence — weeks before replanting decisions must be made.

Crop Health Scouting

Map NDVI across entire fields in a single flight. Target scouting to problem areas identified by the data.

Pest & Disease Detection

NDVI changes often precede visible pest damage — enabling early intervention before infestation spreads.

Irrigation Management

NDVI reveals moisture stress patterns invisible to the eye. Target irrigation to zones showing water deficit.

Nitrogen Deficiency

Nitrogen-deficient plants show reduced NDVI values — prescription maps guide variable-rate nitrogen application.

Harvest Planning

NDVI variability maps guide harvest sequencing — harvest stressed areas separately to optimize grain quality and price.
